Title : National Consultant for National Agriculture Census
DURATION : 11 month in three missions of 3-4-4 months each during the
Period of the TCP project operation
LOCATION : Khartoum , with frequent visits to the states
TASKS AND DUTIES
Under overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Sudan and the technical supervision of the concerned technical office in FAO and in close collaboration with the NPC, the government counterparts , and under guidance and close collaboration with the International Agricultural Consultant , the consultant will carry out the following duties and responsibilities :
Participate user consultation of their statistical requirements
Work closely with the International Census Consultant on census / survey methodology including estimation methods for Totals
Participate in the development of the census tools (questionnaires )and test he practicality of the questionnaires
Consult and assist on the preparation of approparate training materials for traners , supervisors and enumerators
Consult and take part in Training of Trainers (ToT ) for nationals and get involved in the project on all aspects of census administration
Establish quality control procedures to ensure high quality of field work
Assist in the preparation of tabulation plan
Assist the preparation of work plan and budgets for the supcoming Census program
Assist in the editorial process of the final t6abulation plan
Consult and provide on the job training to national staff in data analysis and presentation
Provide technical assistance in the outline preparation for post – enumeration survey
Participate in the preparation for the outline of the census report
Assist in the development of an ongoing system for agricultural statistics
Prepare quarterly reports and suggest recommendation for the next quarter , and also prepare a final report at the end of TCP . .
QUALIFICATIONS REOUIREMENT
Applications are normally not considered from candidates who do not posses ALL of the Essential Qualifications
Education : An advanced degree (M.Sc. ) from a well recognized and
Reputable university in Statistics in Statistical studies
Experience : Expert knowledge and experience of at least 6 – 8 years in the
Field of agricultural census and surveys or related field Experience in using Micro computers and standard software packages (eg . CSPro and SPSS or any relevant statistical software package ) Knowledge and experience in agriculture is an advantage
Languages : Fluency in both English an Arabic languages is essential
