Job Title: IT Officer.
Job Location: Khartoum with Occasional travels to the fields.
Reporting To: IT Manager
Length of Contract: One Year Renewable.
Salary: 1962.62 SDG
General Description of the Role
The purpose of this role is to assist the IT Manager with IT issues, help ensure the availability and reliability of the information technology systems in all GOAL Sudan offices, and to support the users of these systems in using them effectively and correctly. The scope of this role involves assuming responsibility for the entire IT infrastructure (including cabling, telephone equipment, personal computers & laptops, network hard-drives & other devices, satellite equipment, printers, servers, as well as standard software) and also involves liaising & coordinating with the Logistics department in supporting other communication equipment (e.g. radios, mobile & satellite phones)
Key Duties
- Provide technical support all staff in all offices with computer, network, telephone, internet, email & printer problems
- Carry out or supervise sub-contracted repair of devices & ensure service schedules are adhered to.
- Keep log of problems & be responsible for addressing them either in person, with contractor or hardware agent.
- Liaise with relevant service providers in diagnosis & resolution of problems.
- These duties may, on occasion, involve travel to the field offices.
- Roll out, on a scheduled basis, all relevant and necessary security, firewall and anti-virus updates to all offices
- Ensure all critical data on all devices is securely backed up, both on- and off-site
- Setup & configure, to a standard specification, all current and new equipment
- Schedule the servicing/upgrade of equipment when necessary, if possible at times of minimum impact (e.g. when user is on leave or is handing over to new user).
- Disseminate, where appropriate, support & how-to documents to new & existing users.
- These duties may, on occasion, involve travel the field offices.
- Report weekly to line manager on work complete & priorities of work outstanding
- Provide advice, when required, to GOAL Sudan management on IT issues
Requirements
• University degree in IT or Computer Science
• At least 3 years experience in a similar position
• Good written & oral communication skills in English & Arabic
• Experience working in an international NGO
• Broad knowledge of IT including hardware & related applications
• Experience of network administration of Local Area Networks (LAN)
• Ability to prioritise a demanding workload
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Able to travel to field sites.
