Political/Projects Officer (LEII grade)

The British Embassy is seeking qualified applicants to support the team on analysis of Sudanese political and economic developments and on the management of its projects.

Political work – 50%
The successful applicant will support the team by reporting on and analysing political issues that relate to the Embassy’s objectives, both proactively and in response to tasking. This will involve developing relationships with a wide range of Sudanese actors, including political parties, parliament and civil society organisations.

Project management – 50%
The job also entails management of the Embassy’s small-scale project fund intended to support peace and prosperity in Sudan, in line with the UK Government’s foreign policy priorities. The successful applicant will identify potential implementing partners, develop and manage projects, ensure financial accountability, monitor and evaluate them, and liaise with the project implementers to ensure full delivery.

Requirements
Candidates must have a keen interest in, and knowledge of, the political situation throughout Sudan. Candidates should be able to develop quickly a good network of contacts and be proactive in gathering and analysing information. Strong communication skills, the ability to deliver results and to work well with others as part of a team are essential. An understanding of the UK’s policy objectives in Sudan is useful; training on policy skills will be provided.
Candidates should ideally have some familiarity with project management. Training on the Embassy financial management systems and processes will be provided.
Candidates must be fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken).

Benefits
Benefits include competitive rates of pay and comprehensive medical scheme, as well as access to training. The minimum salary for the grade is SDG 54,554.50 per year. In addition to that, employees at LEII grade are receiving a further SDG 839 per month for cost of living allowance.
